Tulip Engagement Rings
Tulip shoulders curve up and open around the centre stone like petals, softening the architecture of the setting. It is the gentlest way to lift a diamond, and it wears close against the finger. Each setting is handcrafted to order in gold or platinum, around the certified lab-grown diamond you choose yourself.
About our engagement rings
An engagement ring is two decisions, not one: the diamond, and the setting that holds it. We keep them separate so you can put your money where it shows most. Everything on this page is a setting, made to order around a certified lab-grown stone you choose yourself.
Start with the shape
Shape decides more about how a ring looks on a hand than anything else, so it is the first thing worth settling. We set eleven, plus a handful of specialty cuts.
- Round. Returns more light than any other cut, and the most forgiving of a lower clarity grade because the faceting hides inclusions. The default for a reason.
- Oval. Lengthens the finger and looks larger than a round of the same weight, because more of the stone faces up. The most popular alternative to round.
- Emerald. A step cut: long, clean flashes rather than sparkle, and real depth to look into. It shows inclusions readily, so pay for clarity here.
- Asscher. The square step cut. Same clarity caution as emerald, with a more geometric outline.
- Cushion. Softened corners and a romantic, slightly vintage sparkle. Sits between round and princess in character.
- Long cushion. The same cut drawn out, so it elongates the finger while keeping the softness.
- Princess. Sharp square corners and bright faceting. Corners are the vulnerable point, so a setting that protects them matters.
- Radiant. Brilliant faceting in a rectangular outline. It takes to halos and pave particularly well.
- Pear. Lengthening, and distinctive. Look for a subtle dark band across the centre, the bow-tie, which the better cuts minimise.
- Marquise. Maximises apparent size for its weight. The points need secure prongs.
- Heart. The hardest to cut well, and only convincing above about one carat, where the shape reads clearly.
Then the setting
Seven families cover the collection. Use the style icons above the grid to see each on its own.
- Solitaire. One stone, nothing competing with it. The safest choice when you are buying as a surprise.
- Hidden halo. Accent diamonds set beneath the centre, adding light and roughly a quarter to half a carat of apparent size, invisible from above.
- Pave. Small diamonds along the band, so the whole hand reads brighter rather than the light gathering in one place.
- Floral. Petal-like shoulders and organic curves, for someone who wears softer shapes.
- Three stone. A centre flanked either side. Adds width without paying for a larger centre.
- Side stone. Accents that frame the centre, often in a contrasting cut.
- Cathedral. Arches rising to lift the stone clear of the finger. Architectural, and it sits high, which is worth knowing if she works with her hands.
Lab-grown, and why it is the only kind we sell
A lab-grown diamond is a diamond. Same carbon, same crystal structure, same hardness, graded on the same scale by the same laboratories. The difference is where it was made and what it costs.

Every centre stone is independently graded, with the report number laser-inscribed on the girdle so you can check it against the certificate yourself.
How much carat you actually need
Carat is weight, not size, and the two come apart quickly. An elongated cut of the same weight covers more finger than a round. A hidden halo adds a quarter to half a carat of apparent size for a fraction of the price of buying it in the centre stone. A slim, tapering band makes the same stone read larger than a heavy one does.
As a rough guide: 1 to 1.5 ct reads as a clear, classic engagement ring on most hands; 1.5 to 2 ct is unmistakable; above 2 ct is a statement and wants a setting built for the weight. If you are choosing between more carat and better clarity, spend it on carat with a round, and on clarity with an emerald or asscher.
Metals
14k or 18k gold in yellow, white or rose, and platinum. 14k is harder and stands up better to daily knocks. 18k is richer in colour and a little softer. Platinum is the densest and holds prongs securely for longest, and it costs the most. White gold is rhodium plated and wants replating every few years, which is routine and inexpensive, but worth knowing before you choose it.
Warmer metals suit warmer skin and hide a faint tint in a lower colour grade; white metals show a diamond's colour honestly, so a whiter stone earns its money there.
How it is built
Three steps, in any order you like: choose the setting, choose the diamond, then review the two together with the full price before anything is made. Nothing is cut or set until you have seen the pair.
Then it goes to the bench. Every ring is made to order in our workshop by artisans with 10 to 15+ years of experience, in your finger size. Made to order takes time, and that time is the reason the finish is still right in ten years.
Sizing, and buying as a surprise
Most people buying an engagement ring are guessing at the size, and that is fine. Ask us for a complimentary ring sizer before you order, or borrow a ring she already wears on that hand. If it is out by a size, most settings can be adjusted. Full eternity styles are the exception, so if she wears one, size carefully.
